The genre choices

So for my portfolio project, the genre I decided to go with is the horror genre and the psychological-thriller genre as me and my group are inspired by some movies like Smile and Scream. Personally, I think these movies were great and I really like that horror like aspect with mystery to it as I have also stated that in my previous post giving my ideas being inspired by Scream. I will now show what exactly is the genres horror and psychological.

                                                                        (Scream-2022)

Horror:

Some things you would normally see when you are watching a horror movie is very dark colors specifically black and a very eerie atmosphere and the character with constant paranoia. To make the horror movie feel scary, there has to be lots of factors that all have to click with you having to start building a story of the thing that the main characters are worried about without showing who and what the person truly is. The movie also has to add in creepy sound design with the eerie background of the film and to have dialogue throughout the film

                                                       ( A Nightmare On Elm Street-1984)

A Nightmare On Elm Street (The original) is a good example of what to expect out of a horror movie. A well-acted film by Robert Englund and Heather LangenKamp with the scares from evocations of abuse, generational trauma and understood vulnerability inside the dream state.

Now horror can be a touchy genre for certain people but they are warned for what they are going to experience watching horror films.

Psychological-Thriller:

Some things you would normally see when you are watching a psychological movie is many plot twists and obsessive behavior on something thats the main conflict of the film. There is also elements in a Psychological-Thriller that you would also see in horror movies like constant paranoia and an eerie atmosphere which is why we chose these two genres for our project. To make a psychological-thriller good, you would need to have things like an intriguing intro and compelling protagonist(s). These are just some aspects but if you would want to see a full guide, click https://bang2write.com/2024/01/how-to-write-a-psychological-thriller-by-an-author-whos-written-7-of-them-and-counting.html

                                                                     (Fight Club-1998)
Fight club did great with them having many plot twists and narrative structure and shows traditional storytelling values.
